Announcing our wonderful charity partners for 2017

Both charity partners are returning for the second year with this year’s event taking place on Sunday 1st October.

James Cracknell said; "We're honoured and excited to start working with Sue Ryder and Winston’s Wish as our official event charity partners. Both form an integral part of the local community in this iconic British town.

Alongside them, our aim is to deliver an event and route that works for the participants, residents, supporters and the town itself. Off the back of Public Health Englands report on inactivity, mass participation events are an important tool in providing people with the motivation and target to make a positive change and we aim to support them every step of the way."

Matthew Reay, Sue Ryder Events Fundraiser said,
"It's great to be back as Cheltenham Half’s national charity partner. Last year 80 incredible runners raised over £30,000 to support our hospice and neurological care .We hope to see many runners donning Sue Ryder vests in October, joining members of our own hospice team who will be lacing up their trainers to run and raise funds too."

Lucy French, Events Fundraiser at Winston’s Wish, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to be back as the official charity of Cheltenham’s half marathon and are excited to be involved with the new management. Winston’s Wish is always proud to be involved with such a popular local event. We hope to see plenty of supporters in running vests again this year.”

Over 3,550 runners took part in the 2016 event, with many more thousands of local residents lining the streets to cheer and support the runners. The half marathon is fast becoming one of the most popular autumn events for runners across the South West and beyond.

Runners will be treated to all that this beautiful regency town has to offer, taking them into the centre of Cheltenham along the broad, tree-lined avenues and captivating scenery. The course combines regency splendour with Cotswold charm! The 13.1 mile journey will once again start and finish at the famous Cheltenham Racecourse, taking in the sights of the tree-lined Promenade towards Montpellier, and the broad, flat streets of Lansdown Road.
